Carpentry and trim work
Baseboard and casing, doors that do not close, shelving and small built-ins, decks and fences. Measured, cut and fitted on site.
What we build and repair
Older houses are rarely square
In a house that has settled, trim gaps at one end, doors bind at a corner, and floors run out of level across a room. Work gets scribed and fitted to what is actually there rather than cut to a drawing, which is why a trim job in a hundred-year-old house takes longer than the same job in a new build.
Matching existing profiles matters too. Older baseboard and casing profiles are not always still stocked, so the options are a close match from what is available, or building up the profile from several pieces.

Common questions
My door will not close properly. Is that a carpentry job?
Usually yes. Doors bind because hinges have loosened, the frame has moved, or the strike no longer lines up. Some are a matter of adjustment; others need the door planed or the frame reset.
Can you match the trim in the rest of my house?
Often. If the profile is still stocked it is a direct match. If it is not, a close profile or a built-up one is the usual route, and we will show you the options before ordering.
Do you build custom shelving and built-ins?
Small ones, yes. Closets, alcoves, garage shelving, a bench. Full cabinetry is a cabinetmaker job.
Do you repair decks, or only build new?
Both. Replacing failed boards, rails and steps is common work. If the framing underneath has rotted, that gets looked at before anything new goes on top.
Do you paint or stain afterwards?
Yes, if you want it in the same job. It is usually simpler than bringing someone else in afterwards.
